The potential role of occupational therapy in the foster care system
1) Midwestern University, United States
The purpose of this study was to
determine what specific supports and barriers may exist that help or hinder
foster care youth from acquiring life skills.
The results indicated that there were definite gaps in the foster care system, specifically related to the acquisition of life skills by the foster care youth, negative impact of multiple placements and under involved foster care families.
Based on the responses to multiple survey questions, there does appear to be a definite role for occupational therapy within the foster care system.
